Malaga Taxi Guide – Getting a Taxi in Malaga
Tourist Information for Taxi Travel in Malaga

Despite Malaga being one of the most well connected public transport cities in the south of Spain, it also has one of the largest taxi networks.
Getting a Malaga taxi is a safe and fast way to get to many of attractions, the airport, or even the beach! This guide looks at some the local taxi options and the modern taxi apps.
Local Malaga Taxi Operators
The local Malaga Taxis are simple enough to spot with the majority of official taxis white in colour with a diagonal blue stripe down the side.
There are three ways to get a local taxi in Malaga. You can hail one down off from the street, you can go to a designated tax rank area, or you can pre-order one by phoning a local company.
The majority of taxi ranks are located in the city centre and often based just minutes away from some of Malaga’s biggest attractions, as well as most transport hubs (train station, bus station etc.)
In 2024 all official local taxis in Malaga should now be offering card payments, and by law they should all be using a meter to calculate the fare. Try not to agree a set price beforehand as this can can often mean a higher price.

Malaga Uber and Taxi Apps
Over the last few years there has also been a significant rise in taxi mobile apps such as Uber and Bolt in Malaga.
They are extremely popular with tourists, and it allows you to simply pay your fare (even with a foreign card), avoid any potential language barriers (saying the wrong destination), and often gives you the cheapest price.
The most popular option is Uber, with plenty of availability and very competitive rates. You can download the app in the apple or google app stores and it’s super simple to order taxis around Malaga.
There are other apps in Malaga that you can use such as Bolt and PideTaxi. I haven’t got any experience with these but they work in the same way as Uber, so may be worth comparing prices and selecting the best options.
As with a lot of other locations there is some tension between local drivers and Uber drivers, with protests and marches happening across Malaga.

Malaga Taxi Fare Prices 2024
Here is a rough estimate of Taxi Prices in Malaga as of 2024:
Sure, here’s a simple table comparing taxi prices in Málaga for local taxis and ride-hailing services like Uber and Cabify:

The prices of Uber and other app based taxis can fluctuate based on how busy it is, and the standard of car you order.
Also note that there are additional supplements for having more than 4 people, adding large pieces of luggage, and travelling in the late evening/morning.
Malaga Airport Taxi
Getting to the city centre from Malaga airport is a fairly simple process, with many options of public transport directly from the terminals.
However, after a long flight it can sometimes be nice to not have to faff around and buy tickets and haul luggage onto public transport, and a taxi can remove a lot of stress on the way to your hotel.
Outside Malaga airport there is a taxi rank which is well organised and easy to use. It can get a little cahotic during peak busy season (July and August) but generally moves fast.
You can also arrange an Uber or Cabify to pick you up at the terminal, with designated parking areas for these vehicles. Everything is sign posted really well to make it as easy as possible to find.
